Vaudezilla 4th Annniversary (Apr 17)
I was looking for a show to shoot and decided to see what was happening at Stage 773. I realized that Vaudezilla was there every Saturday and figured I’d reach out to see if they’d welcome “a guy with a camera”. Like all good people, they responded quickly and were happy to have me come and shoot. It would be my first event with the troupe. It also happened to be their 4-year anniversary as a weekly show!
I didn’t know what to expect, but was really happy to see a fun crowd of people that kept it light. The performers all had great energy and played along as the crowd got into it, which made the whole vibe a lot of fun. I wouldn’t say Vaudeville/ Burlesque is for everyone. I would say that it is for people that enjoy a fun evening, like to support people’s creative outlets, and want to experience the camaraderie that comes from a small group of performers that appear to know and like each other. I get the sense that the crowd is a mix of regulars, friends, and people that want to experience something a little different.
Here are my favorite photos from the night. Shout out to Red Hot Annie and Shirley Blazen. They were really awesome to see perform. A gallery of “the other photos” is here: http://www.kbevphoto.com/Body-Mod/1704-Vaudezilla/n-XfFPV4/

Quick note on the timing of the show as FYI: Around 10:30pm, the show started with a number from the “Vaudezilla JV” squad. They gave way to the host for the evening, Dirty Devlin. It was a full night of 15-20 acts that were all fun and entertaining. Red Hot Annie was the finale in Set 1 and Set 2, which ended a little after midnight. The night was followed by a cupcake reception, which was neat.
