KBev  > Travel > Carib-LatAm Travel > Ecuador Scenes (Jun 09)
After shooting for a few days in the Galapagos, we had the opportunity to see a little bit of the country of Ecuador. Quito, Guayaquil, the Cloud Forests and the roads between. Here are a few of my favorite shots from "the rest of the trip". This is just the scenery and touristy sights. My street shots are in another gallery. Be sure to check out Photos 6 and 7 here though....

KBev > Statue of the Virgin of Quito, made from 7,000 pieces of aluminum
KBev > The Virgin of Quito stands atop El Panacillo, overlooking the city.
KBev > Parque Bolivar in Guayaquil is also known as "Iguana Park" because of all the Green Tree Iguanas that hang out there. The monument of Simon Bolivar stands in front of the Catedral Catolica
KBev > They feed the Green Tree Iguanas in the park, but the pigeons obviously get what they can.
KBev > Guard at the Palacio Presidencial
KBev > I usually don't take pictures of trees BUT, take a look at this photo in XL or "original" size and take a look at the tree leaves - especially near the top. I've never seen that before...
KBev > An actual product of a head-shrinking "process" - a little boy's head. The hemisphere it is on top of is about the size of an orange. They apparently remove the bones and then "shrink" it. If you look at the "original" size photo, you'll see all the detail and realize it is not a replica!
KBev > If you ever wanted to know how to do your own head shrinking, they had a convenient "how to" sign at the Middle of the World museum. Note: I'm pretty sure this in not legal in the US
KBev > This is actually the "old" middle of the world monument. The new one is bigger and in an equally unimpressive location. We chose to go to the Middle of the World Museum instead... All three spots are actually on the equator (in theory)
