Boquete, Panama - Coffee and Food (Mar 11) : In the town of Boquete, you can do a lot of stuff. I addition to horseback riding, hiking to waterfalls, and visiting one of the National Parks, there's Coffee! Here are some photos from our trip to the coffee ranch and some other stops in the area.

Embera/ Kuna Indians of Panama (Mar 11) : At different parts of our trip we had the opportunity to interact with some of the Native Indians in Panama. The Embera Indians were inside the Chagres National Park. The Kuna Indians were in the province of Kuna Yala. Here are my favorite photos from the time we spent with them.

On another note, it was tough to shoot these photos. On the one hand, the Embera's were set up like a well-oiled tourist-friendly machine. They wanted you to take photos AND buy stuff. They were very friendly, but seemed to be lounging until a boat arrived, then they'd get up and "perform". The kids were great and fun to talk with and hang out with though. On the other hand, the guidebooks and tour guides all tell you that the Kunas prefer not to be photographed unless you pay them. The kids certainly know this and try to lure you into a photo, which was quite funny, actually. The adults were cordial, but not very welcoming overall. Having shot a lot of street photos in the past, I was able to shoot these discretely "from the hip" as we walked around in the village. Suffice to say, I have mixed emotions about both sets of photos. One felt staged. The other felt sneaky. In any case, I do hope you enjoy them.

Panama Canal and Scenes (Mar 11) : On few of the days in Panama, we just toured and saw the sights. I usually keep these separate from my street shots, which is why they're here. If you wander around Panama, this is some of the stuff you'll see in Boquete, Kuna Yala, and Panama City.

Enjoy.

Panama Streets/ People (Mar 11) : Given the range of things I saw when I was in Panama, it was tricky to figure out how to organize them into galleries. Here are my favorite street shots from the trip. It includes, people, animals, and other things. Enjoy.

Ecuador Streets (Jun 09) : In Quito, Guayaquil and everywhere else I could wander, I took a bunch of photos of people doing what they do. The parks and the streets were full of people, and with limited time I got some nice shots. If I had the time, I woulda spent the day in each city just wandering those parks. This is far more shots that I usually try to put in these galleries, but there were so many that I really liked, I had to include more.

Ecuador Scenes (Jun 09) : After shooting for a few days in the Galapagos, we had the opportunity to see a little bit of the country of Ecuador. Quito, Guayaquil, the Cloud Forests and the roads between. Here are a few of my favorite shots from "the rest of the trip". This is just the scenery and touristy sights. My street shots are in another gallery. Be sure to check out Photos 6 and 7 here though....

Ecuador Scenes (Jun 09)

Grand Cayman (Jan 08) : I couldn't find a photo community site that had a lot of insight into what to shoot during my trip to Grand Cayman. After four days there, I know why: There really isn't much there except a really nice beach and really expensive restaurants. I did try to find a few things interesting... Here's my view of the "best" I came away with (300 photos in 4 days is a good sign I didn't see much... I took 1200 in Mexico City in 3 days - see the travel and sports sections)

Costa Rica Traveling Scenes (Aug 07) : During an 11-day trip to Costa Rica, I took 1,200 photos of the country and the fam. Most of the good photos are in other galleries. Here are a few scenes from around the country while we travelled.

Playa Conchal, Costa Rica (Aug 07) : Not much here. I didn't do much sightseeing during this stop of our trip. Here are a few shots that I took around the resort area we visited.

Arenal Volcano, Costa Rica (Aug 07) : During our 2nd stop in Costa Rica, we spent 2 nights near the Arenal Volcano. We took a raft trip and saw a lot of animals along the river. Here are a few shots of the volcano and the animals.

Mexico City - Sights (Jun 07) : If you go to Mexico City, chances are you'll take some tourist photos of the standard sites. Here's a gallery of mine.

Mexico City - Sights (Jun 07)

Mexico City - The Plaza (Jun 07) : The Plaza is surrounded by the National Palace, the Cathedral and some hotels. It is a huge concrete park in the middle of the city. Here are a few shots of what I saw there.

Mexico City Street Scenes - Parks (Jun 07) : I spent a lot of time wandering around in Chapultepec and Alameda parks looks for interesting subjects. There were a lot of them. Here are a few of my favorites.

Teotihuacan, Mexico (Jun 07) : My first morning in Mexico City, I hired a private car to drive me to Teotihucan. I left early to beat the crowds and got to sit in the fog for 90 minutes when we arrived. The sight was fantastic and here are some shots of the grounds and some of the people I saw while I was there. As usual, I found the the photos of the people to be more interesting than the sights.

Teotihuacan, Mexico (Jun 07)

Barbados (Jun 07) : We had the opportunity to spend 8 days on the island of Barbados. True to form, I tried to see everything in a very short amount of time. Here are some of the sights from the island. Like St. Kitts, it was a British colony and certainly "felt" like one. I did a much better job driving on the left this time though. Enjoy.

Barbados (Jun 07)

St. Kitts and Nevis (Jun 05) : After reading a book by Randall Robinson (Quitting America), I took the family to St. Kitts before a wedding in Puerto Rico. We saw a lot of things and I took hundreds of photos. Here are the ones I like to most.

St. Martin (Mar 10) : Unlike most trips, I decided to take it easy with the photos in St. Martin and only bring one camera/lens. It worked out well because there wasn't too much to shoot (much like Grand Cayman). That said, there were some great opportunities to shoot planes blasting people on the beach and some funny signs. I didn't shoot any of the nude beaches, which was a good thing. On TV, these places all have "good naked". In real life, there was more "bad naked" than good (with an exception one day)...

As for the planes, the beach is literally right behind the runway - you could throw a rock and hit a plane. Right before takeoff, they power-up their engines and the jet blast blows people over. I saw a bunch of people get blown off their feet and into the water. Didn't seem like something I wanted to try...

Enjoy this short gallery from St. Martin.
